Waldo Came to the Wedding

Hi everyone!

As I mentioned on Friday, I spent the past weekend in Estes Park for a good friend’s wedding. Angel picked me up Friday evening, and after an accidental trip to Taco Bell for dinner, we headed up to the mountains.

(And for the record, it was accidental! We meant to drive in the drive-through of a restaurant next door, got confused, and realized it too late. I mean, it’s not like you can back out of a drive-through!!)

Angel, myself, and three other gals ended up staying in this massive cabin with all of the groomsmen. In essence, there were 20 chaotic guys running around….and us ladies. When we showed up at 9pm and the shenanigans were already in full swing, we knew it would be a weekend to remember!

The groom (left) and two of his best men. I’ve known these guys since high school!

I’m not going to go into detail about the ridiculous amounts of alcohol and food that may or may not have happened this weekend, but keep that in mind in the back of your head. After all, everyone has a weak moment (or weekend, right?!)

Saturday dawned absolutely beautiful, and in order to escape the chaos of wedding preparations around us, Angel and I headed out for an easy morning hike. We had a lot of fun, but I’ll talk about it tomorrow– far too many pics in one post otherwise! After we came back, we watched the guys run around in their tuxes until it was my turn to get ready. Of course, Ang looked gorgeous and immediately, my red belt and I had problems. You see, I never actually tried it on because it was Angel’s and I just assumed it would fit. Unfortunately, it didn’t but I have a wonderful best friend who is apparently skilled with a buck knife. She went to work whittlin’ away on that belt, chopping off an end and inserting a new hole, and finally, my outfit was saved 🙂

Jill, Angel, and me. Again, we all danced together in high school

(I swear, I had sweet red shoes on but you can’t see them!)

We danced our faces off at the wedding, and I even enjoyed a special presentation put on by the bridesmaids. They did a pseudo-skit using famous chorus lines from various pop songs in order to describe the bride and groom’s relationship (Think: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Bring Back That Loving Feeling, etc.) They even had surprise participation from reception guests scattered around the room, similar to the opening scene in Love Actually. It was the first time I had ever seen something like this in real life instead of on YouTube, and it was fantastic. Totally had me laughing!!

There was a photobooth…so naturally, we had to participate!

After the reception, the entire party of people headed back to our cabin (naturally) to continue the after party. This, my friends, is where you might laugh. The groom, Mike, had brought up a Waldo costume because he wanted a few joking groomsmen pics that had a secret Waldo in the background. Seriously! He thought this through ahead of time, and I can’t wait to see the guys all posed in their tuxes with Waldo hiding behind the tree in the background! Anyway, when we returned to our cabin, the costume was sitting on the table, and of course, I thought it would be an awesome idea to play Waldo. I donned the costume and proceeded to hide in various location around the house, waiting for people to notice me… just like in the books.

Told you it was a full Waldo costume 🙂

Angel joined in on the fun

And no, this had nothing to do with alcohol either. I like to keep myself entertained!

In short, the weekend was awesome and it was probably the most fun I’ve had at a wedding in a very long time!

How was your weekend? What did you do??

Did you ever read the Where’s Waldo books when you were a kid? I was so bad at them! I could never flipping find that man!

Awesome 🙂 I went to a hockey game last year and there was a guy dressed like Waldo. Fun thing to do if you are going to be in a crowded place. Wonder how his date felt about it…

The Waldo costume is awesome! And at a wedding! I’ve seen Waldo at a few races, and a classmate of my husband’s dressed up as Waldo for Halloween last year. We were out at a bar and someone went up to the 2nd floor to take pictures of Waldo in the crowd…very funny.

I like your accidental Taco Bell dinner…I guess it would be kinda awkward to say no when they ask you if you’re ready to order, and to zip past the window where you pay/pick up food without stopping:)

The Waldo thing in real life is definitely one I’ve never thought of before! That’s funny, because we played funny dress up this weekend too! I loved the books. It was like the children form of people watching.
