What I Am NOT Thankful For

I know that sounds a little cranky and not really in the spirit of the week but it needed to be said. Know why?

I just got out of the dentist. UGH!

Random, I know. But come on, that’s funny!

I have always been incredibly lucky when it comes to teeth. I’ve never needed a retainer or braces and I’ve never had any cavities, root canals, or whatever other disastrous things can go on inside my mouth. In fact, the one trait that I get complimented on frequently (especially when I go with my gay friends to a gay male bar!) is my teeth. Because of that, I think I got a little lax in my maintenance, and I my last checkup was a few months overdue.

Man, lesson learned! I had a cavity!!

Lindsay needs a dentist. Pretty positive.

For most, one cavity isn’t a crises and in the scheme of things, I understand that it really isn’t a big deal. But I was sooooo nervous going in this morning! I kept thinking of the needles that the doctor would use to numb up my gums and all the crunching and whirring inside of my head. Not a fun Monday!

Long story short, it’s fixed and I’m done but I CAN’T FEEL HALF MY FACE! And half my tongue too. It is so weird! I’ve already taken a chomp out of my lip because I couldn’t feel that it was there, and I’m pretty terrified to try to drink anything, especially in public. I’m meeting the girls at the gym tonight and I’m really hoping this numbing stuff wears off before I try to drink water in class. That could be an awkward moment, especially if I’m drooling down my clothes. I might be able to pass it off as sweat once class gets going, but I’m really not going to have an excuse for a wet shirt when I walk into class!

**Edited to Add: I just saw the funniest thing ever! I’ll copy my facebook status here so you guys can appreciate the full effect:

I just saw a kid crash his bike while riding down the sidewalk. Cause of accident? He was too busy giving Wal-Mart the finger while riding that he forgot to notice the oncoming curb. Love this kid already. Stay strong, brother! 🙂

And that, my friends, just made my day!

Tell the truth and make me feel better: do you have any cavities?

Which doctor do you dread going to more: dentist, eye doctor, or regular doctor?
