They have bears and wolves that they have saved from various situations across the country. Some have become “nuisance” animals, causing problems in neighborhoods, and instead of putting them down, they take them to this park. I was loving the bears particularly, but I really thought the wolf was a cutie. He was carrying around the fish like a toy, and he kept looking up at us like he knew we were watching him. Plus, he looks crazy like my sister’s dog Isis, so that made me love him all the more!
After visiting the sanctuary, we finally headed into Yellowstone….where my camera died. Man, I was bitter. I saw Old Faithful for the millionth time in my life, as well as some cool sulfur ponds and mini geysers. But again, my camera was worthless so I can’t even think about this point of the trip. I was allllll irate!!
We finally arrived at the Lake Lodge, home of our rustic cabin. And literally, it was called rustic and it totally was! It was so old and drafty but absolutely adorable. Angel and I fell in love with it immediately, even though it meant that we had to share a double bed AND I ran the risk of sitting up in the middle of the night and smacking my head on our bike handlebars. There wasn’t a lot of space but it was home 🙂
And now that’s sideways and I’m leaving it cause it’s 6:30am and I can’t take the time to change it! Just stretch your neck to the right and you’ll get a good idea of our rustic hut 🙂
Angel and I woke up early on Sunday morning with plans to grab a quick bite in the cafeteria and head out on a trail for an hour or so with our bikes before heading back home. Of course, Mother Nature hates us and it was raining! It literally rained off and on the entire day. What did that mean? No biking for us. Yes, we dragged our bikes all through Montana and Wyoming for absolutely no reason. Awesome. Instead, we drove out through the south entrance of the park, and into the Grand Teton National Park. Both were absolutely stunning because the leaves were changing and the colors were ridiculously vibrant. Now that my camera was charged, I became a picture-taking fool!!
| I told her to jump. No idea what the hell happened after that. |
Seriously could the Tetons be any more beautiful? I love the Rockies, but there has always been something about the Tetons that takes my breath away. They are so steep and rugged, and the peaks were buried in the clouds. It was very cool.
Anyway, so after our slow-style exit through the two parks (as well as Jackson), we were a bit behind schedule. It was noon by the time we had made it through Jackson and we had a loooooong way to go. It also didn’t help that I was off roading through construction every 6 feet because they decided to destroy every road in west Wyoming. I bitched a lot 🙂
How was your weekend? What did you do?
