I am seriously sleepy today! Ok, so I’m 29, but I’m pretty sure I’m a grandma trapped in a 29-year-old body. I need sleep these days, and I have absolutely no idea how I made it through my college years subsisting on like 5 hours a night. No Can Do. We went and saw the Everest movie at the Imax on Sunday night, which was really cool and you should totally check it out. I have to admit, I got a little irritated because they kept comparing Anker’s climb to that of George Mallory’s climb in 1924 that took his life. In theory, Anker and his partner were reenacting the climb….but they really didn’t. They tried to wear similar clothes and boots and “crampons,” but after almost freezing to bite sized little pieces, I noticed that they finished the climb and the movie in their cushy and warm down one-piece suit. BUT, all of that aside, Everest is the bomb.com. Check it out. Or climb it. Whichever you prefer 🙂
Anyway, sorry about that tangent. It tends to happen.
After the movie, a group of us went to The Bank on Colfax for dinner and drinks….of course, this meant I stayed out way past my bedtime until 10pm, so I was verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry sleepy yesterday! Not to mention I got mild food poisoning (mucho thanks to The Bank for almost killing me) so I felt like bad news bears yesterday. I was all ready to crawl into bed last night nice and early (after finally watching the very twisted and delusional Black Swan) when my old friend Kyle called. Of course, I couldn’t blow off his call so I ended up talking to him until waaaaaaaaaaaaay past my bedtime. Again. So now I am one sleepy bear!
But I have good news. My nirvana has arrived in the mail, and from the hands of my friends. What the hell am I talking about, you might ask?
Book heaven! My chick lit books finally came in the mail, plus I borrowed a few from Angel (and I still have Bennett’s book from Christmas I think, but I added it to the pile to make me look like I am reading more than girly trash this week. I did read it though!) I already read the Lauren Weisberger book and I’m now starting in on one of Emily Giffin’s books. I saw that Something Borrowed is getting turned into a movie, and I’m torn between being excited like a kid in a candy store and sad because they will more than likely ruin it. It could be Eat, Pray, Love all over again (Thanks Julia Roberts.) I’m holding out hope. It worked for Gone with the Wind, right?!
